WHEATSVILLE FOOD CO-OP is a full service, natural foods cooperative grocery store, which has been serving the Central Austin community since 1976. Wheatsville is the only retail food cooperative in Texas and has over 20,000 invested owners. Invested owners participate democratically and financially in the co-op. In 2013, Wheatsville realized its dream of opening a second store.
For a one-time investment of $70 a person becomes an invested owner and is eligible to vote in annual elections, run for a seat on the board of directors, receive sale prices on goods and receive a patronage rebate in sufficiently profitable years. Wheatsville is open to all shoppers and does not charge a surcharge to non-members.
